Please Help Bounchan – Urgent Bladder Cancer Surgery Needed This Week…

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I’m writing with an urgent plea for help. Our beloved Bounchan is facing a life-threatening condition and needs major surgery this week to prevent aggressive bladder cancer from spreading.

Bounchan's core his passion is always working with the groups and the volunteers and he gave all his energy and passion all these years for the childen and the young people and the cultural exchange activities. That is where his heart lays and where he is living for.

Now we need everyone to try to help him get surgery......

What Has Happened

  • Last year, Bounchan was abducted by one of the active violent groups in the region. Due to sensitive negotiations involving authorities all the way to Vientiane, we were unable to disclose this publicly.
  • Thankfully, he was rescued and is back at Daauw Home, but the trauma has left deep physical and emotional scars. The healing process has been ongoing.
  • Two months ago, during a hospital visit, doctors discovered a tumor in Bounchan’s bladder. He has already undergone an initial surgery with family help and private loans—about 90% removal was successful.
  • Ten days ago, we received lab results: the cancer is very aggressive and has grown rapidly—almost back to its original size within two months.

The Critical Next Steps

  • Bounchan must have his entire bladder removed immediately, before the cancer spreads.
  • He and Zjong have travelled to Vientiane and are now en route to Chiang Mai for this urgent surgery.

Financial Needs & Urgency

  • The surgery can only proceed this week if at least 200,000 Baht (~€5,000+) is paid up front. That covers half of the surgical cost alone—not including travel, medication, or aftercare.
  • After the surgery, additional expenses for medication, recovery, and support will total about €7,500 more.

Why Your Help Matters

  • There is no health system safety net here—everything must be paid for out of pocket.
  • Bounchan has given so much: he has worked tirelessly for the children, volunteers, cultural exchange, and community at Daauw Home. He has been like a second father to many.
  • His trauma from abduction and torture is still fresh. Every moment counts. Without this surgery, the disease could spread beyond hope.

Original Letter from Lara which we have summarised above:

Test results Bounchan. Aggressive Bladder Cancer.

we all struggle with Bounchan's severe health issues.

We were not in the position back then to explain about about how serious his health issues actually are.

Last year Bounchan was taken by one of the violent groups that are currently very active in the area.

We were not allowed from the authorities to share this with you because of sensitive matters (getting these groups in j and working together with all the different institutions all the way up to Vientiane).

It worked. Bounchan is Home again.

But Bounchan is extremely violated and in severe trauma. He has been healing in the past months at Daauw Home.

But....

2 months ago after hospital visit we found out that Bounchan on top of all this had a tumor growing in his bladder.

Bounchan and actually everybody at Daauw Home was not ready to share this on media - after all t=what happened before - and they took a private loan with family to do the surgery.

The surgery went well for about 90 percent.

About 10 days ago Bounchan had his check up and got the results from the lab. It is a very agressive cancer in the bladder that is growing very fast.

The new xrays showed that the tumor has grown - in 2 months after removal - again up to almost the same size.

Bounchan and Zjong have gone immediately gone to Vientiane - while there is no money - to extend Zjong's passport and now they are on the way to Chiang Mai to get surgery to get his full bladder removed ASAP before it spreads.

It is NOT spread just yet.

We are all in shock actually and if something this life threatening happens I usually share this with all the people who visited Daauw Home and the Daauw Home people with mailcp, but it was hacked a few months ago and mailcp deleted all my contacts that I connected with and built up in the past 20 years.

So only one way to share for now: through this media.

All the Daauw Home people in shock and Bounchan even beyond that, after abuse for many months in this place where he was taken.

Torture. Actually.

My own children are not sleeping. Bounchan has been as a second father to them in their whole childhood, as all the others at Daauw Home/

My children lived 24/7 with all of the Daauw Home people and we do not actually know where to start right now.

I simply do not understand why a good very good hearted soul like Bounchan has to go through all this.

Bounchan his core his passion is always working with the groups and the volunteers and he gave all his energy and passion all these years for the childen and the young people and the cultural exchange activities. That is where his heart lays and where he is living for.

There is NO healthcare back up system here.

We simply need to pay for the travel, the stay, the surgery and the medication and aftercare.

Bounchan can ONLY do the surgery THISWEEK if half of the amount is paid upfront 200.000 Baht - more than 5000 euro and that is only the half of it and not including travel and medicine.

After that costs will be about another 7500 euro.

If you want to share, please do so, for Bounchan, for Zjong, the heart of Project Kajsiab Laos and please lets hope we can find a financial way to do the surgery ASAP
